Losing weight (or slimming down) can be a mental issue … Because exercising is usually not self-evident for overweight people. In many cases there is fear about the way of exercising, the risk of falling and the uncertainty in relation to other athletes.
In addition, the risk of injuries is often greater (due to the high body weight). But you will notice that all these negative facets are hardly present in Lifeguard Recertification and swimming.
Because falling while swimming is virtually impossible and because of the upward force of the water it doesn't matter how heavy you are.
In addition, you find yourself in the water most of the time ; which is a great added value for the insecure athlete.
Swimming and Lifeguard sports are therefore the most ideal sports for overweight people to practice.
SWIMMING WITHOUT WASTE RESULT
When you go swimming you naturally want to see a beautiful result. Because of course you don't exercise for nothing and you would prefer to burn a good number of calories per swimming pool visit.
And although losing weight is an important goal for many people, few people actually lose weight by swimming.
After a few weeks, these dropouts are so disappointed that they fall back into the old inactive lifestyle. People go back to hanging on the couch and try again later!
Unfortunately, many people have no idea what effective weight loss means. During the first weeks they swim a number of laps twice a week, but do not lose weight at all. Disappointed, they try a few more times, but in the end most of them stop within 3 months.
In practice, this is a common problem, which can indeed be prevented. And that's by being honest about losing weight!
HONEST ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS
By honestly looking at yourself and your own situation, you take an important first step. Because the excess weight usually does not develop in a few months. This often takes years and eventually the stored number of calories must also be burned again.
But fortunately consuming is a lot faster than saving. Depending on your degree of overweight, it is possible to reach your target weight within a few months.
But if we are honest about losing weight, we will also have to tell you honestly about the fact that exercising gives less results than you actually think.
Because when you go swimming twice a week you only burn a limited amount of calories. And while your health will certainly improve, this is nowhere near enough to lose a lot of weight.
So what should we do to lose weight with swimming? It is a combination of burning a lot of calories, getting fewer calories through your diet and most importantly: moving more!
BURN CALORIES WITH LIFEGUARD SWIMMING
Although we have already said that losing weight is not very easy, swimming is a good sport for people who want to lose weight.
Because swimming can be sustained for a long time, so that you keep the combustion at a high rate for a long time.
In addition, the water also provides extra resistance, so that the body has to work harder and needs extra energy for this. With a good Lifeguarding swimming training you can burn 500 to 700 calories per hour.
But swimming 2 times a week does not yield the results you would like to see. It is simply too little to make a big difference.
But by increasing the number of swimming days per week (the frequency), more results can be achieved. Of course, swimming that much is not always possible, which is why not exercising is the most important part of a healthier life, but moving more.
After all, it is not for nothing that it is advised to move for at least 30 minutes a day.
HEALTHY FOOD AND AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE
Whatever sport you practice, you will achieve the most results by paying attention to a negative energy balance. This simply means that you burn more calories than you take in each day.
And for this you don't have to change your entire diet right away, but just be a little more aware of what you eat. Leave that wine for once or skip the round of cake on the birthday.
These are often the first steps to limiting calorie intake. Of course you can achieve even more results by looking more closely at your diet.
By paying attention to your diet you limit all your energy intake, but of course you also have to burn what you ingest.
Because, as said, you have to burn more calories every day than you take in and this is almost impossible to do with exercise alone. It is better to just be a lot more active!
So leave the car at home more often, get off a bus stop earlier, take the stairs more often or play more with your children. Because every activity (for example cleaning) costs energy and helps you lose weight. And if you also go swimming 2 to 3 times a week, you will notice results quickly.
